Welcome to the Flagship Run Vienna

Vienna, the capital of Austria, is known for its quality of life and its unique blend of tradition and modernity. Imperial splendour, Art Nouveau buildings and a long musical tradition shaped by famous residents such as Mozart and Beethoven meet contemporary architecture, art and festivals. The historic city centre is one of the most beautiful in Europe and, together with Schönbrunn Palace and Park, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The extraordinarily green city – over 50% green space – is also one of the most “connected” in the world, thanks to its location on the Danube with 1,700 bridges.

Participants in the Wings for Life World Run will not only experience the special flair of Vienna's historic centre but will also enjoy the meandering Danube and numerous tourist attractions like St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Prater along the course.

The race through Vienna starts on “Ringstrasse”. Passing City Hall and Burgtheater, the University of Vienna and “Schwedenplatz”, the route leads to the Vienna State Opera. From there it follows “Linke Wienzeile”, “Gumpendorfer Gürtel” and “Mariahilfer Gürtel” across the various districts of Vienna. Along historic buildings such as the Museum of Fine Arts and Natural History, the “Hofburg”, the Parliament and the “Burgtheater”, runners in Vienna then once again pass the start before heading to “Schwedenplatz”, followed by “Weissgerberlände”, “Stadionbrücke”, Lusthausstrasse, Hauptallee, Praterstern, Lasallestrasse all the way to the Reichsbrücke, “Wagramerstrasse” and “Arbeiterstrandbadstrasse”, then over the “Rollerdamm” onto the New Danube, over the “Steinitzsteg” onto the Danube Island and out to the “Einlaufbauwerk” and on towards Lower Austria, out of the city to Tulln.
