Hi, my name is Olivia, and I'm a C-6 quadriplegic. This means I lost the use of any voluntary muscles below my shoulders, have partial use of my arms, but lost the use of my hands. I have internal loses too, like the use of my bladder and bowels and the sensation of pain and temperature regulation below the shoulders have been severely affected.
Before my injury I was a very active individual. I found my peace being outdoors. I loved biking, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, surfing, yoga, and going on adventures in the forest with my dog. I was in a career I cherished and miss deeply as Registered Massage Therapist. 6.5 years has passed since the car accident that resulted in my spinal cord injury. I am still struggling to find my inner peace and new purpose in life. I keep busy, though. Re-learning every day how to become more independent, exploring a new career path and finding new ways to nourish my love for the outdoors. Last year I started a YouTube video “Quad Life 101“ with a vision to help support my SCI community and share what I have learned since 2015. Currently I’ve also started a course in health & wellness coaching to eventually setup my own health coaching practice and more closely support individuals with an SCI.
I Although re-organizing my life has been a great challenge and I do miss my life prior to my injury, I’m always fighting to make the best out of my new normal. I am grateful to be alive and be able to reach out to you all right now. Please consider sponsoring me with a donation for the Wings for Life World Run, so we have a better chance to one day a cure for all people suffering from spinal cord injury. When that day comes, we can all be proud to have donated to this make this a reality.
Thank you for taking the time to read my words and thank you for any donations you can give. ♿️
